30.11.2023 "Hé!" (Antrittsvortrag Gastdozentur)
Hé! is a young Brussels, bilingual architecture firm that prefers sustainable and honest architecture, using as many CO2 neutral materials and circular building systems as possible. It renovates rather than builds, reduces rather than expands. It will optimize existing spaces and improve the quality of life so that no new construction is needed. It will show that building with regenerative materials (materials that have a longer life cycle: bio- based, geo-based or 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... hands materials) & back-to-basic materials has its place not only in the countryside but also in an urban context.
When embarking on a renovation project, it invariably starts with an inventory of the qualities of the existing building: not only the valuable materials but also the existing structures, natural light, internal organization is critically examined. Flexibility, functional reversibility and disassembly are features of circular building that we systematically implement.
Architecture Winter Talks 2023: STADT LAND SCHAFT
Both climate and structural change pose challenges for our cities. Comprehensive transformation processes are imminent. In order to preserve our cities as livable places despite the climate crisis, design and planning strategies are needed that make urban space more robust, resilient and climate adaptive. What role do material cycles play here and how do urban planning, architecture and landscape architecture interact?
