UpTrain
Research project UpTrain
Practice-based competence promotion and trial knowledge transfer
The InnoVET project "UpTrain" aims to contribute to the redesign and enhancement of the attractiveness, quality, and equivalence of vocational training in the commercial-technical field of the mobility industry. Due to the increasing importance of public transport, demographic change, and the shortage of skilled workers, transport companies will need approximately 100,000 additional qualified personnel positions by 2025. At the same time, the qualification of existing personnel is necessary to meet the requirements of digitalisation, electrification, and automation.
The aim of the project is therefore to sustainably strengthen the permeability of industry education and the attractiveness of vocational training. This is to be achieved by designing digital learning content for a mobility academy, as well as by developing trial advanced training courses, i.e., networking transport companies, universities, and industries. In the course of the research project, future-proof and holistic advanced education models for the public transport sector are to be implemented and tested.
The Sustainable Technologies Laboratory at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences cooperates with other universities and transport companies within the framework of the project. The network coordinator is the VDV Akademie.
