Financing Your Studies

Here you will find various options for financing your studies.

The central point of contact for questions about financing is the Student Financing Advisory Service of the ZSB (Central Student Advisory Service). Ms. Sonja Dieckmann is the contact person and can be reached by mail studienfinanzierung(at)hs-bochum.de or phone +49 (0) 234 32 10094. HERE you will find an overview of savings opportunities, scholarships and events.

Information event on study financing

Every semester there is an information event on study financing for international students, the date for SoSe2024 will be announced.


Help from AStA

Are you in a financial emergency or do you have other social problems? Then write an email to the social department at the AStA (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss). The social referees study at the BO themselves and are happy to help you. The AStA also has a foreigner aid fund for emergencies. Click here for the website.


DAAD Graduation Scholarship

The Application season for 20234 starts in February!

Call for applications for graduation grants from the DAAD scholarship and support program for international students and doctoral candidates via Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

The International Office is awarding "degree completion grants" to international students for the year 2023 from DAAD funds.

You can apply from now until 27.08.2023.

The DAAD Graduation Grant is designed to enable international students with good academic records, who are in need through no fault of their own, to focus on their studies and complete their upcoming degree by providing financial support.

International students (Bildungsausländer*innen) of the Bochum University of Applied Sciences are eligible to apply

- who are in the final phase of their studies (expected graduation by 31.12.2023) and

- who are in need through no fault of their own.

Completely filled out and signed applications with the required proofs can now be submitted as a PDF to daad-foerderung(at)hs-bochum.de at the International Office. Ms. Désirée Schnake is your contact person for questions regarding the graduation grant.

Hilde-Domin Scholarship

The Hilde Domin Programme "Students at Risk" is aimed at students/doctoral candidates who are in danger in their countries of origin and are unable to carry out or continue their studies/research locally. The aim of this program is to enable these students/promoters to complete their studies/doctorate at a German university under safe conditions.

Scholarship for Equal Opportunities

-Apply until 17 January 2024!

The scholarship for more equal opportunities is a DAAD scholarship and supports an international student for 12 months.

The scholarship is aimed at students who are facing particular challenges during their studies.

Special challenges include

- Students with a refugee background

- Students with a child

- Students who are caring for a family member

- Students with a degree of disability
