Concrete Structures
Welcome to the website of the group of Concrete Structures.
On the following pages you will find information about our courses and our research projects.
Both in teaching and in research, we deal with reinforced and prestressed concrete structures.
Our goal in teaching is to provide our students with a comprehensive education that not only covers the theoretical background for the design of (reinforced) concrete structures but also incorporates practical application examples. We attach great importance to preparing students in the best possible way for the demands of professional practice and enabling them to address complex structural engineering requirements.
Our research focuses on sustainability and conserving natural resources. Current research topics are, for example, the realistic estimation of indirect actions (further information) and geometric optimization of concrete components through the use of void formers (further information).
Realistic FEM simulations are an important tool in many of our research projects. However, we also carry out component tests in almost all of our projects. We have a very well-equipped laboratory for materials and structures (Website LBKI) at our disposal for this purpose.
