A decentralised concept implemented in a joint product lifecycle management (PLM) strategy enables industry-oriented implementation of development, manufacturing and assembly processes at different production sites distributed across the campus of Bochum University of Applied Sciences within the framework of the BO Smart Factory.

• On the campus of Bochum University of Applied Sciences, the following institutes and laboratories form the BO Smart Factory with the listed components:
  •     Teaching system for intelligent automation (LIA)
  •     Multisensor measuring station for quality control
  •     3D printer
  •     Design workstations

• Part of the Assembly Lab's Intelligent Production Line are the following components:
  •     High-bay warehouse
  •     Partially redundant robot-based assembly stations
  •     Monorail shuttle system with switches for track-bound workpiece conveyance
  •     RFID technology
  •     Computer vision
  •     Server, network, IT communication
  •     Computer workstations
